Boat of Garten is only 4 miles away and is probably beat known for its RSPB reserve where you can see a variety of birdlife and wildlife including ospreys. At Boat of Garten you will also find the Strathspey Steam railway which runs through to Aviemore, which is only 10 miles away and offers a good range of shops, restaurants and activities. This area really is the outdoor enthusiast's paradise! The Cairngorm mountain and its great winter sports facilities are approx 8 miles, boasting numerous opportunities to bag a munro (mountain over 3,000ft), and a wide range of watersports including sailing, windsurfing, paddle sports and rafting. There is also a selection of 9 and 18 hole golf courses and the National Cycle Network, which includes 64km of off road routes. The Whiskey and Castle trails of Strathspey are within easy reach, giving you the chance to indulge in a glass of the finest malt or take in some Scottish history. The Cairngorm Mountain Funicular Railway transports visitors up the mountain to the Ptarmigan top station, just below the summit of the Cairngorm where panoramic views can be absorbed. Inverness and the Moray coast are within an hours drive and well worth the trip. Inverness boasts a wide range of shops and restaurants, whilst the beautiful Moray coast has many fine sandy beaches - you might even spot a dolphin!
